Introduction

   This is an introductory class in public speaking, whose objective is to introduce you to a number of different speaking situations through coverage of theory and application of communication theory. Throughout the semester, you will be engaged in a number of public speaking activities designed to help you better organize your thoughts, utilize supporting materials, and use appropriate language and methods of persuasion, with the aim of being able to deliver an effective message with confidence and ultimately master public speaking. The rationale of this course is to sensitize students about the importance of clear oral communication and make them understand the essential role that effective communication plays in contemporary society. This course has been designed with the aim to prepare students to use the skills and techniques to be learned in real-life situations after graduation.
