Introduction

"This course is an introduction to the field of cultural anthropology. Cultural anthropology is a holistic approach to the living world, communities, societies, and cultures around us today. To an anthropologist, every aspect of life is of importance and worthy of study. Anthropology is a science and has developed a number of theories and specific methods to help understand what may seem to be very different worldviews. Anthropology provides a means of cross cultural comparisons and, therefore, a basis for understandings between cultures and peoples. To this end, we will study the main ethnographic methods and theoritical models as presented in or underlying ethnographic pieces by various authors."
